Petroperú Clarifies River Transport Service Contracting Process in Iquitos

Lima, Peru – April 4, 2025 — Following recent media reports in Iquitos regarding the awarding of contracts to Naviera Pinedo S.A.C., Petroperú has issued a statement to clarify the circumstances and reaffirm its commitment to transparency and legal compliance in its procurement processes.

According to the statement, all of Petroperú’s procurement procedures are governed by the principles of transparency, fair competition, and impartiality, in accordance with the company’s Procurement Regulations. These ensure that all actions are carried out within the current legal framework.

Regarding the river transport service contract for fuel delivery using the contractor’s own fleet — awarded in November 2024 under process No. SEL-0123-2024-OFP/PETROPERÚ — Petroperú disclosed that, after granting the contract to Naviera Pinedo S.A.C., it identified a possible case of document forgery. The company immediately initiated an internal verification process in December 2024. Upon concluding the investigation, the procurement process was annulled and the contract award was revoked. Additionally, the company requested that its legal department initiate the appropriate administrative sanctioning procedures before the State Contracting Tribunal, in line with regulatory requirements.
