Japanese Delegation Eyes Strategic Mining and Energy Investment in San Juan, Argentina

San Juan, Argentina — May 16, 2025

The recent visit by a high-level Japanese delegation reinforces San Juan’s emerging reputation as a prime destination for sustainable investments. It also lays the groundwork for future technological partnerships with leading Japanese firms.

A group of 32 representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has arrived in Argentina to explore investment opportunities in mining, infrastructure, and renewable energy, with a particular focus on the province of San Juan.

Led by JETRO officials Yusuke Nishizawa and Silvia Yamaki, the delegation includes executives from 20 top-tier Japanese companies. The visit began on May 12 with a mining seminar in Buenos Aires and will continue through May 15.

In San Juan, provincial authorities welcomed the delegation, which is scheduled to hold meetings with key stakeholders in the mining sector. The group will also tour a solar panel manufacturing plant and visit several high-potential projects, including Los Azules, El Pachón, Vicuña, and Chita — all considered vital to the region’s development strategy.

This mission reflects growing international interest in Argentina’s resource potential and highlights the role of Japanese companies in advancing clean energy and critical minerals development in Latin America.
