Green Hydrogen: Company Planning to Set Up in Paysandú Signs Preliminary Sales Agreement

Paysandú, Uruguay – HIF Global, the company planning to establish a green hydrogen plant in Paysandú, has announced a preliminary agreement with Mabanaft, a global energy solutions provider, for the long-term purchase and sale of approximately 100,000 tons of e-methanol per year. This deal is part of HIF Global’s e-fuel production portfolio, targeting maritime and industrial applications.

In an official statement, HIF Global explained that:

“The agreement outlines the key commercial terms needed to finalize negotiations for a definitive purchase and sale contract. It also expands the previously signed memorandum of understanding to include future e-fuel plants in Uruguay, the United States, and Chile.”

Expanding E-Fuel Production to Meet Global Demand

The demand for sustainable fuels is projected to exceed 250 million tons per year by 2035. In response, HIF Global is developing a global portfolio capable of producing over 15 million tons of e-fuels annually, reinforcing its role in the energy transition and decarbonization of various industries.
