Santiago, April 2, 2025 – Chile’s Ministry of Energy, in collaboration with the World Bank, has issued a call for expressions of interest from consulting firms to develop a roadmap for offshore wind energy. The submission deadline is set for April 10, 2025.
The initiative aims to outline how offshore wind energy can be integrated into Chile’s long-term energy strategy while addressing initial development barriers. The roadmap will assess key aspects such as technology, infrastructure, public policy, regulations, environmental considerations, economic factors, and market conditions necessary for deployment.
Call for Expert Contributions
According to the World Bank, interested companies must provide documentation proving their qualifications to carry out the required services. Firms may form partnerships to enhance their expertise, provided they specify a lead company in their submission. If shortlisted, the designated lead will be invited to the proposal request phase.
This initiative is part of the collaboration between Chile’s Ministry of Energy and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Net Zero World (NZW) program. The roadmap will be based on technical and economic analyses to evaluate Chile’s offshore wind energy potential, resource availability, and economic feasibility.
Strategic Development for Clean Energy Expansion
The study will identify infrastructure gaps, policy requirements, and market conditions essential for offshore wind development. The roadmap will provide authorities with crucial insights to create favorable conditions for investment and deployment, ensuring offshore wind energy complements other clean energy technologies currently being implemented in Chile.
