La Paz, Bolivia – Bolivia is solidifying its position as a key player in regional energy integration. According to Óscar Claros Dulón, Manager of Natural Gas Export Contracts at Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), the state-owned company has engaged with at least six potential private clients interested in using Bolivia’s infrastructure to transport gas from Argentina to Brazil.
As part of a pilot test, Argentine gas is already flowing through YPFB’s pipelines toward Brazil. Claros highlighted that this experience confirms the feasibility and immediacy of Bolivia’s infrastructure as the best alternative for such operations.
“Once the test is completed, we will enter a commercial phase. We have approached six or seven potential private clients, and we believe we will be able to sign contracts in the coming weeks,” the executive stated.
Claros also emphasized that YPFB is open to allowing private, state-owned, and mixed enterprises to utilize its aggregation and transportation services.
The success of the pilot test reinforces Bolivia’s position as a strategic link in the region’s gas supply chain. The country’s infrastructure is proving to be the most effective, operational, and viable logistics alternative currently in place.
“Our transportation infrastructure is the most effective, operational, and viable logistics alternative at this moment,” Claros noted.
Finally, the executive highlighted that the operation of the Integrated Transportation System strengthens YPFB’s role as a key player in the South American energy market, further establishing its importance in gas distribution between Argentina and Brazil.
