Tuesday, April 22 marked the beginning of Expomin 2025, Latin America’s most important mining fair. Running through Saturday, April 26, the event serves as a crucial platform for the mining industry, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and community engagement.
Chile’s Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, described Expomin as “a strategic meeting point that showcases the best of Chilean mining today and in the future.”
“Over the years, Expomin has solidified its place as the most influential mining platform in Latin America—and one of the most relevant globally. It positions Chile not only as a production leader but also as a benchmark in innovation, sustainability, and applied technology,” Williams stated.
A Decade-High in Mining Investments
In an interview with BioBioChile, Minister Williams revealed that Chile currently holds the highest projected mining investment portfolio in a decade—valued at over $83 billion through 2033, across more than 50 projects tracked by Cochilco.
“Cochilco’s portfolio is nearly 27% higher than in 2023, the largest value in ten years. This underscores mining as a strategic driver of sustainable development for both Chile and the world,” she added.
Expomin as a Catalyst
Events like Expomin 2025 play a critical role in forging alliances, attracting investment, and driving concrete solutions for the sector.
“Expomin brings together major companies, suppliers, academia, government, startups, and local communities—all looking toward a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable mining industry,” emphasized Williams.
Innovation with a Chilean Stamp
Looking ahead, Williams expressed clear goals for this year’s edition:
“We want Expomin 2025 to be the fair of collaboration, sustainability, and innovation—with a Chilean identity.”
To that end, the Ministry of Mining is spearheading the ChileMining METS Innovation Pavilion, in partnership with Alta Ley Corporation, FISA, and the National Suppliers Roundtable.
This new initiative aims to strengthen Chile’s mining innovation ecosystem, positioning the country as a global leader in Mining Equipment, Technology, and Services (METS).
